Review: Is Katrina Kaif Playing Sonia Gandhi in her forthcoming film Rajneeti? The film being directed by Prakash Jha that is being promoted heavily now in both print and electronic media is making eyes turn with Bollywood beauty looking like none other than Indian ruling alliance UPA’s Italy
born chief Sonia Gandhi.
KatrinaKaif, a Hong Kong born daughter of Kashmiri Father and British mother
amazingly resembles Sonia Gandhi in trademark Sonia Gandhi sarees.
Her English accent also gives impression that she cannot emulate any other Indian politician except the Congress president.
Katrinais a born model and actress. She is already six years old in Indian
cinema Bollywood despite being just around 22 years old. At the age of
fourteen, Kaif started modeling for a jewelry campaign in London, and
was subsequently discovered by filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, who gave her a
part in his film Boom. She moved to Mumbai and was offered a number of
modeling assignments
Initiallyfilmmakers were at first hesitant to sign her because of her linguistic
shortcomings. Katrina saw success with the 2005 film Sarkar where she
played the brief role of Abhishek Bachchan's love interest. Her next
release was Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, where in she was paired opposite
Salman Khan.
KatrinaKaif in the year 2007 Katrina's first release was the hit movie
Namastey London, wherein she starred as a British Indian alongside
Akshay Kumar for the second time after Humko Deewana Kar Gaye that was
a box office dud. She then appeared in a series of box office hits that
include Apne, Partner and Welcome. 2008 saw her play a negative role
for the first time in Abbas-Mustan's super hit action thriller Race.
She played the role of Saif Ali Khan's secretary who is secretly in
love with him. She appeared next in Anees Bazmee's box office
blockbuster Singh Is Kinng alongside Akshay Kumar for the fourth time.
ButRajniti will be a challenging assignment where she portrays Sonia
Gandhi. 'Rajniti', a film by Prakash Jha has tongues wagging about
Katrina playing the role of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, but Jha
isn't willing to be dragged into controversy yet. The film is presently
being shot in Bhopal with actors Naseeruddin Shah, Nana Patekar, Arjun
Rampal and Manoj Vajpayee.
Thismulti-starrer, reportedly based on the contemporary Indian political
scenario, stars Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Ajay Devgan
and Nana Patekar.
ThoughJha denies that there is any resemblence between Katrina Kaif role in
the film and Sonia Gandhi. He says, "It (Katrina's character) has
nothing to do with either the life or political career of Sonia Gandhi".
